Big Horny Hustler - S/T

Label: Monkey Boy
Year: 1995

I moved to Austin mid 1995 after just coming off of tour with the band I was in at the time. The reason I moved there was all about the music that had come out of Austin and the over abundance of places to see bands of all genres. One of the first local bands I saw when I got into town was "Big Horny Hustler" and to say my mind was blown is an understatement. Big Horny Hustler is another in a sad long list of bands that broke up way too soon. Here is the only thing they ever released, a four song single that will leave you wanting more from this band. To this day, Big Horny Hustler is in my top ten of greatest bands to come out of Austin, and I would say they are around  number 3 on that list. The musicianship of this band is comparable to Jesus Lizard (yes, they are every bit as good of a band) .Listen for yourself and you'll see what I mean. Hands down some of the best noise rock these ears have had the pleasure of listening to.

*Thanks to Texas Punk Treasure Chest Blog for ripping this.

Oh wow, I loved these guys. I never knew they had any recorded output at all. Didn't somebody in them end up in Brown Whornet, who were also fucking great at that time?

Did you ever see/hear El Santo?

Well, it sounds great.

btw, what's so bad about being called a fucker? Would you prefer being called a not-fucker?

Bass player was in Brown Whornet. Drummer was in Paul Newman, no idea where that amazing guitar player wound up, he was pretty sick.

Nothing wrong with being called a Fucker.. I'd rather be a Motherfucker, and at my age, I am.

Drummer, Tony Nozero, moved to Drums and Tuba, I remember.

holy fucking shit! i can't believe my ears! i had a copy of this demo cassette. these guys were so awesome. so great live. i always said that they had the potential to be ranked up there with jesus lizard and shellac. just dissipated as soon as they got their footing.

yes, tony nozero was in drums and tuba as well as paul newman. he was also in liquid mice before any of those.

the bassists was julian. when big horny hustler disbanded he formed um ting tum and then ended up playing with brown whornet after that. last i heard he was in a new project called cat scientist. that was a few years ago.

thanks for the uploaded. made my evening.

i have one more mp3 that isn't here. it was on the hole in the wall's "austin music sampler", i believe. which was largely garbage other than the BHH track. i'll email it in case you want to add it here.
