Gob / Designer - split 7"
Label: Bovine
Year: 1996
I can't believe I haven't already posted this record. It's truly an all time favorite, and based on previous exhortations of the Bovine record label and the band Gob, I would have assumed (you know what you do when you assume, right?) this 'lil ole ep would have been in the mix a long time ago. But, it's not. Or wasn't. Until now.
Gob have two tracks, and in typical Gob fashion, they sound like what I imagine riding a fully loaded cement mixer off the side of a cliff while blasting a warped cassette of "My War" might feel like. All the air is sucked out of your head and replaced with this rumbling hell sound. Gob is complete commitment to volume and noise.
Designer have three of their own, and with them they drag you back into some Zoroastrian Ahura Mazda. Total destructo-thud signaling the beginning of the end of the beginning. The whole of the law is a hammering to your knuckles. You'd not expect this harsh rock from Switzerland, but alas, Designer are just that gross.
Love this record. Love you.
