the Jesus Lizard: live @ Orbit Room; Dallas, TX; 12.06.94

I hear this happened all the time, but here is an audio rip (of a VHS vid) of a really long gig in Dallas in '94, which is almost interrupted during the 2nd song ("Sea Sick") by a beer bottle hurled from the back of the audience & smashed into the apparently hardened skull of our fave, Mr. Yow... He is knocked unconscious for several moments & ( you should see the video...) it's kinda strange how the band is suddenly gripped with fear & slowly leaves the stage, 'til Yow is back on his feet... and even stranger how no one in the band actually checks on their fallen front-man... what's with that? I guess it was a stupid mistake (not aggression by someone who came to see the other band & doesn't understand what the fuck he's being subjected to...) because the rest of the show moves on without a hitch....

get this shit...

* if you want to see the video itself, I will need at least 5 requests to make it worth my while...

This does look like Emos, but the video I've watched says its the Orbit Room in Dallas. AND, Mack walks over to see if David's okay.

Like I said, it apparently happened alot. I told a friend about it & she said she saw that happen at a show in Houston... go figure.

David Wm. Sims here, bass player for the Jesus Lizard. You have a some things factually incorrect here:

This show wasn't at Emo's. It was at the Orbit Room in Dallas.

Duane and I left the stage and went into the audience to try to find the dumbass that threw the bottle, which we were unfortunately not able to do. We were gripped with anger, not fear. We knew David would be looked after by the people in our crew.

Finally, referring to your note in the Comments, people throwing bottles is not something that "happened a lot." I can think only think of one other instance in over ten years.

WOW! I hate to be wrong, but that's just the way I received it! Don't bash me! I have heard lots of stories! I am certainly a fan from the beginning-although I never got to see a live gig! I certainly didn't mean to offend! It just looked that way, & I found it strangely comical, that's all!
Now let me grovel by saying that if it weren't for the Jesus Lizard, I would have no standard for comparison, nor would i ever have wanted to be a musician myself! (c'mom, I formed my screen-name from my favorite song ever: "Mouth Breather"!)

Thanks for correcting me. I have nothing but respect for you & your band! "David Wm. Sims everybody!!!"

Actually in the video Mac goes to look after David as well. David Wm. Sims looks like a pitbull about to tear someone apart. I just watched it the other day. Greatest band to have ever existed. (um, after Scratch Acid, of course)

Anon from 9/3 is correct, the show was December 16th.
I'm amazed that almost 15 years later that the video has taken on a life of its own.
