bert - Big Box Schwing (1996)

bert are (were) from Montgomery, Alabama. A noisy-chaotic 3-piece aiming for some thing like the Jesus Lizard, meets Hammerhead. Guitarist's vocal's sound as if he just returned from the dentist- having multiple extractions while getting hammered on pure-grain whiskey. They were a mess to watch live. Falling down, hitting each other accidently with guitar heads, crashing through drumset, & toppling rigs... And that's just during tuning (which they only do once or twice per set-when they probably should after each song...) I don't know for sure what became of them, but it was good while it lasted.

"Listening to Big Box Schwing is somewhat akin to being beaten by an angry mob, or taking a spin in a clothes dryer filled with Ginsu knives"- Jim Santo, Alternative Press

Here is their 2nd CD release on Chicken Ranch Records (Austin)
