Out of the ashes (see what I did there...ashes...smoke?) of Dead Low Tide (which I'll post another day) comes Port Washington's Smoke And Smoke. It's the brainchild of Mike Kunka and Dan Haugh (formerly known as Godheadsilo) along with vocalist Spencer Moody (late of Murder City Devils), and is essentially the Dead Low Tide minus that band's guitarist. What your left with is the drum and bass bombast you would expect from Haugh and Kunka overlaid with the Moody' s menacing lyrics and wild eyed delivery.
The beauty is, they keep things short and sharp, no song overstays it's welcome, and the album itself is done before you know it. The rattling of your speakers slows to a stop, and you realize how quiet the world is.
No thanks.
Turn the shit on again and get worked about the head and neck for another 20 minutes or so.

i'll get that dead low tide record up this weekend some time. it's the same band with the addition of guitar, so if you like one, you'll most likely be enthused about the other.
thanks!!!

Great blog! I've been looking for this album. I saw these guys about 4 years ago and it was crazy loud and the singer looked like a college professor. Thanks!
