Another entry from the Boston skuzz rock contingent, this one chronicles the real life ramblings of a drunken madmen named Kerm who would frequent the convenience store that two members of the band worked in and dispense a bizarre mix of life lessons, conspiracy theories, and warnings. The band itself comes from prior Boston noise rockers Kudgel and Green Magnet School, and was originally going to be GMS, but the guy decided to give it a new moniker.

Musically, it's more straightforward and less violent than some of their Boston contemporaries, but no less disturbed or dark. Menacing rock delivered without relying on the dirtiest distortion pedal or throat peeling vocal barks.

Sidebar: I have seen a couple different track listings for this record, but this is the version I've had for awhile now, sooooooo....suck it?

Luca Brasi - To The Tooth

Here's another band in the Boston noise/sludge/rock/hardcore/grit continuum who were contemporaries with La Gritona, Blacktail, Mancini, Milligram, etc. Loud, mean, nasty, punk mixed with loud, mean, nasty noise rock.

Blacktail - Styrofoam Island

Following up the La Gritona post, here's a band with ex-members of that band, along with Anodyne, Cast Iron Hike, Sweetness, Luca Brasi (which I'll post later) and Michael Mancini. It's more of that Boston styled gritty noise rock. Nothing pretty, just a hammer to the side of your face. They describe themselves as "old Amphetamine Reptile and old SST". Sure, I'll buy that.
