"We are Shellac of North America..." and so begins it. A tour through their discography of wiry guitar twitches and precision rhythms spanning the first 7" up to "Excellent Italian Greyhound" and everything in between. As to be expected, the sound quality is superb, and the performance does not fail to exhilarate.
That's sorta it I guess. What more should I need to say?

Fuckin' just about the best set ever so far for the b'ys.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin' though, I'll make it back after the harvest is reapt; I'm mostly offline as I'm living in the outskirts for the summer working ye olde organic farm.. again, I'll make it back...
What a fucking treat! Like Tortoise, people who complain about these lads "making the same album again and again" should realize they simply don't like the late or early music as much as they think they're supposed to. This band on Sat. nite of the T+G 25th Anniversary, right after a Big Black set, was a personal life-highlight. Albini was as close to a "positive youth" vibe as he's ever been, almost emotional about his friend Corey and his place in a nasty, profane canon that could rock the genitals off most "heavy music" or "classic rock" this side of early AC/DC or earlier ZZ Top. Of course, neither of those bands hold Q+A sessions. Nor do their records SOUND as brilliant, nor do they feature Todd Trainer. Now what the fuck happened to my copy of Shellac's Drag City 7"?
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
Thank you, much appreciated. Lost my tape of this Peel Session a long time ago...
