Bric-A-Brac, Whatnot, and This That and The Other

I was reading the comments from the previous post, and one thing was made perfectly clear, Ipecac does in fact have an unhealthy hard-on for The Jesus Lizard. Certainly, this falls under the "whatever floats your boat" category, but it can be alarming to those of us on the outside looking in on the mans life.
We love you Ipecac, and we're here to help you.
The other thing made clear from the previous post is that it's time once again for our quarterly call for ideas from the rabble. Our "what do you want to hear" round table discussion, if you will.

How about, I'll start...

Anybody got any good live recordings from the following:
Hot Snakes
Burning Brides
Unwound
Part Chimp

If you do, please let me know in the comments, and we can make a proper posting of it here on the site.

Ok, that is all. Let the suggestion-hurling begin!

and i really don't see a problem with that...though waking up in strange places because of it can be a little awkward (for the other folks involved)

  2. Nothing wrong with Jesus Lizard worship (or for that matter Melvins, Unsane or Cherubs worship), but I think it's safe to say that anyone who's ever read SGM is fully across these bands by now - live bootlegs notwithstanding.

There are some really good SGM-appropriate bands around at the moment - many have already been featured (Pissed Jeans, Slices, Oaks, Drunkdriver, Hey Colossus, Part Chimp, Rusted Shut, Lamps, United Sons Of Toil et. al) and anything along these lines is appreciated (by me).

Incidentally, I came across this band called Black Congress the other day. They remind me of Pissed Jeans and Slices in that they play noise rock with a definite hardcore influence. Don't know much about them except they're from Texas, they have four mp3s available on their bandcamp (http://blackcongress.bandcamp.com/), and they are the cat's pyjamas.

  10. Thank you kittyempire, you actually got it.The 4 bands I mentioned are by all means essential just not every sideways fart they decided to record. With that said there are tons of great bands out there today worthy of SGM.My humble recommendations being Black Congress,Mayyors,Cacaw,White Lung,Twin Crystals, the entire Vancouver/Nominal Records scene and the sadly overlooked noise gods from the 90's Oiler. And Ipecac the one obsession we do share is an unhealthy love of Tinsel Teeth.

  16. Would you consider posting some albums in free lossless audio codec (flac) format? The kind of music SGM is known for there would be no where else on the web that would have such small independent, non-corporate labels and bands. There is the space issue. Flacs are usually three times the size of an mp3 album but still less than a wav. They sound great on speaker or headphone. Listening to music on loudspeakers is the total experience. Mp3s on small computer speakers and headphones are still good though and a beggar can't be a chooser.
