they had to release this on amphetamine reptile records (they were signed to atlantic records at the time)...atlantic refused to release this album because it was too experimental sounding...and they weren't able to release anything with their name outside of their record company...so they did it this way (atlantic dumped them after only releasing 3 albums..."houdini".."stoner witch"...and "stag")
